Happenings

Founded in 2009, Happenings run low impact, socially responsible events in public spaces throughout Ireland. Since its inception, we have focused in particular on animating city spaces with creative and spontaneous events around Dublin, Cork and Limerick cities that include open-air cinema screenings, yoga in the park, music gigs, inspiring talks, and family days out. On fine weather days we organise instant outdoor cinema & creative events in parks and public spaces. There is always a focus on staging socially responsible events and we operate a strict leave-no-trace policy. There is always an inclusive and friendly atmosphere and we try to build a strong sense of community & foster the public’s engagement with their city.

We are back with one of the last Happenings events of the year and we are going out with a BANG and we are looking for a gang of volunteers who can help us bring this spooky event to life!

The Cauldron of Smithfield:

For another year, we will be taking over Smithfield Square this Halloween evening (Thursday 31st October) with The Cauldron of Smithfield - our annual family friendly Halloween Festival aimed at the local community that this year features a climbing wall, a haunted house, live musical and variety performances, bouncy castles! It's set to be a really exciting evening festival for the locals and not so local, kids and grown up kids but as always we simply can't do it without the help of our volunteers :)

What we need a hand with:

Setup, Decor work, event production, event stewarding, manning info point, de-rig, clean up, having some serious craic together etc..... We need volunteers from approx 3:00pm - 10:30pm (still time to enjoy your Halloween festivities) but we'll welcome anyone from whatever time you are available - we also have a few spots available during the day to help get the place decked out in festival decorations.

Benefits:

Celebrate Halloween in style We’ll sign off any paperwork needed for college hours. Gain back stage access and first-hand experience in a unique event. Bitta cash for your hard work Give back to your local community Meet new people Special access to the zipline and House of the Damned!

This is a really excellent opportunity to get experience with two community based event management companies - JoinedUp and Happenings. We give great references, and above all, it’s a nice way to give back to the community at the same time! If you would like to be a part of this one of a kind event, please email us at; info@happenings.ie and one of our team members will be in touch very soon.
